Susan DOVE

Town Councilor

Sue was elected to the Skaneateles Town Board in November 2021, and she would appreciate your vote on November 4, 2025 to continue as a Town Councilor for another 4 year term.

During her first term, Sue is proud to have been the liaison to the Skaneateles and Mottville Fire Departments, Skaneateles Town Court and Constables, the highway department, zoning office, and the Assessor’s Office.  Sue also has taken the lead in educating the  community on the Town-wide reassessment project, which will ensure fairness in the  amount of taxes residents pay.  Sue assisted in revamping the Town Employees’ health  insurance plan to get better coverage, while saving thousands of dollars. Sue and  Supervisor Legg are currently working on re-negotiating the contract with our union  members.

If re-elected to a second term, Sue will continue to work with her fellow board members on being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars while providing the services our residents  need and want.  In particular, Sue is proud to have worked on the water project which will  commence this spring.  This project will provide better water quality, distribution, storage,  and most importantly fire protection for the Skaneateles Community.

When many communities are abolishing their transfer stations, Sue and the current Town Board have worked diligently to keep our transfer station open by instituting programs that  cut costs while allowing our residents to recycle or discard unwanted items, including the  ever-popular swap shop.

Sue's prior experience on the Town and Village Boards as well as her business experience  provide the skills needed to ensure the Town continues to be fiscally responsible, and  budgets for things such as long-term infrastructure improvements, maintain a gifted and  dedicated workforce, and provide recreational opportunities for its residents, including the  re-purposing of the Austin Park Pavilion.

As we all are aware, Skaneateles Lake is one of our greatest assets.  Sue is committed to  ensuring the Town works with other local groups and municipalities to continue stewardship of Skaneateles Lake.

Sue has been an active member of the Skaneateles Community for over 40 years. The following represents that commitment to our community:

●      Graduate of Skaneateles Central Schools, and raised a family in the School District, with 2 grandchildren currently in the elementary school

●      Executive Director of the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce for 17 years

●      Active honorary member of the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department, spearheading fundraising for the department

●      Former Village Trustee

●      Substitute Teacher for Skaneateles Central Schools

●      School budget vote inspector

●      Owned and operated a business in the Skaneateles area

●      A history of volunteerism:  Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Skaneateles American Legion Post 239, Annual Fire Department Field Days, Citizen of the Year Committee, Skaneateles Community Center Board Member and Secretary, Operation Christmas Hope, SCS District Planning Team, Skaneateles Library Book Sale, Salvation Army bell ringing and coordination,  SAVES fundraising.

One thing you may not know is that Sue came from a farming family in the Catskills of New York State.  This love of farming and agriculture contribute to her desire to see our farming  families flourish, as well as a determination to maintain green space in our community.

As your Town Councilor, Sue will do her best to ensure your tax dollars are kept at the lowest level possible, while utilizing them to the utmost.
